Project description

The MOSM canoe harbor is a great example of how modern architecture combines various functions of buildings with each other. Ultimately, the facility is the seat of the successful canoeing section of the Municipal Youth Sports Center, and at the same time one of the favorite vacation spots for the inhabitants of nearby towns.

Due to the poor condition of the buildings on Lake Paprocany, the city of Tychy decided to develop this area from scratch. The plan was broken down into several stages. In 2014, a promenade and a water playground were built, and in 2020, the construction of the canoe harbor was completed. The first part of the project received numerous awards and distinctions, incl. 1st prize in the competition for the best developed public space in Poland in 2015. The author of all projects is Robert Skitek from RS + studio in Tychy. When asked what inspired him in the case of Przystań, he replied: - It was given the final shape by our conviction that it must become part of the promenade. Not a building in itself, but a continuation of public space attractive for residents. So you can say that we were inspired by crowds of people using the promenade. - In this way, a whole was created that delights with its coherence, harmony and closeness to nature. There are also plans to build a sailing marina.

The building of the marina consists of two parts - training and storage. They are separated by a roof where you can walk freely and admire the beautiful view of the lake. You can already observe slowly developing plantings on it, which will soon turn it green and create a wonderful place for aging in the future. On the side of the lake, there are wooden stairs that will be used as stands during the competition. The back wall is made of EQUITONE grey fibre cement panels. On the other sides, the building is surrounded by green slopes.

The main goal in the selection of materials was to emphasize the natural character of the landscape of the developed area, which is why wood dominates in it. Why is it combined with fibre cement? - The main reason is quite prosaic - explains the author of the project - the rear facade, due to the distance of the forest, had to be made of non-combustible materials. EQUITONE products were chosen for their quality and design.

The entire area is 52,700ft2, and the cost of building the marina was PLN 10 million.
